BLÜCHER EuroPipe helps students reach new heights at the Plaza - Phase II Leeds

BLÜCHER® EuroPipe has been installed in Phase II of Unites Sky Plaza in Leeds, which is nearing completion and acclaimed as the tallest building in the UK dedicated to student accommodation.
Unite, the largest provider of student accommodation in the UK, stipulated that a metallic pipework system should be installed after having problems with expansion of plastic pipework in one of their high rise blocks in Southampton.
After discussion with the M&E contractor, BLUCHER® EuroPipe was chosen as the best solution due to its cost, ease of installation and flexibility in design, as well as its green credentials.
Initially BLÜCHER® EuroPipe was to be installed on site in standard lengths of pipework and fittings however, after consultation with the sub contractor SolidEight, pre-fabricated stacks were designed, approved and installed.
Due to the ease in which stainless steel as a material can be manipulated and formed the cost implications of manufacturing pre-fabricated stacks are minimal and are more than compensated by the speed at which the pre-fabricated stacks could be installed.
Pre-fabrication also resulted in less waste as well as reducing the number of pipe joints per floor. Pre-fabrication improves the accuracy of material ordering and is available on a very short lead time which was proven when two pre-fabricated stacks which were damaged on site were replaced within 2 days!
