Reopening of the five-star Adare Manor & Golf Resort, Adare, Co. Limerick, Ireland
Sitting on the banks of the River Maigue, Adare overlooks the fording point from which the village derives its name: Ath-Dara meaning ‘The Ford of the Oak’ Adare Manor was the former seat of the Earls of Dunraven. The house, built in the early 19th century retained some of the walls of the 17th-century structure.
The original house was a “calendar house”, which means a house that architecturally contains quantities that represent the numbers of days in a year, weeks in a year, months in a year and days in a week. It had 365 stained-glass windows and 52 chimneys.
After an 18-month closure for refurbishment and an extension the five-star Adare Manor and Golf Resort reopened its doors in November 2017. Working closely with the main contractor JP Construction and distributor TJ O Mahoney, Cahir, Co Tipperary, BLÜCHER manufactured and supplied customized channels to the kitchen areas in the Manor and the new golf club house.
Adare Manor house is set on a 840-acre (3.4 km2) estate and now operates as a five-star hotel, owned by J.P. McManus and features a magnificent 18 hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. Hoping to secure the Ryder Cup in 2026 Adare Manor will be high on the list as a possible venue.
